The PAI is a natural extension of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s Major Giving Initiative (MGI). My Source was designed to complement MGI materials and resources available at http://majorgivingnow.org/.
In addition to the tested and proven MGI materials, some stations have used My Source testimonials as part of membership campaigns and ongoing development activities.
In Fall 2007, WUNC asked listeners – through on-air solicitations, by e-mail and through personal appeals – to record My Source testimonials. WUNC developed a flight of 10 testimonials to run once an hour during their 10-day fall membership campaign.
While answering phones during morning drive time, The Story's Greg Kelly was pleasantly surprised to hear a new member say that, "WUNC is My Source for news." WUNC's fall membership campaign was one of the most successful to date, raising over one million dollars.

WAMU began soliciting and collecting My Source testimonials in December 2007. The station used in-house talent, like Diane Rehm and Kojo Nnamdi, to record on-air My Source solicitations that asked listeners to e-mail the station about why WAMU is important to them. WAMU enticed its audience to submit their testimonials by suggesting “you might even get on the air!” The station also solicited testimonials through its membership e-newsletter.
As of January 2008, WAMU received 145 communications from listeners willing to record My Source testimonials and produced 20 spots. The first round of My Source listener testimonials was aired as part of WAMU’s February fundraising campaign.
