WIPB (Muncie, IN)
With the My Source Community Impact Awards for engagement, WIPB is being recognized for their project, Living and Aging Well/Make One Change.
After conducting a day-long town hall with citizens and community leaders about how to best address local health issues, WIPB partnered with Ball State University and the local Boys and Girls Club to help create a wellness education program for children and families. An astounding 21.8 percent of Indiana children are obese – six percent over the national average. The campaign, entitled Make One Change, encouraged youngsters and parents to commit to just one adjustment in their daily habits, to reap lifelong health benefits. Make One Change kits were distributed to 28 local schools, with a total of 13,522 student participants. In addition to the K-12 kits, the campaign included billboards, TV interstitials, bus signs, print ads, radio spots, posters, classroom flyers, bracelets for students and a banner for each school to display.
