WNIN (Evansville, IN)
With the My Source Community Impact Awards for engagement, WNIN is being recognized for their project, WNIN Healthly Lifestyles.
During the last decade, Centers for Disease Control reports have called attention to Indiana’s alarming rates of childhood obesity and the low participation of Indiana’s K-12 students in physical education. Working with the Welborn Baptist Foundation, WNIN launched the Healthy Lifestyles campaign, which included family activities and information such as the Happy Healthy Monster Tent at the WNIN KidsFest, materials for preschool and school teachers, and online information for parents and youngsters. A number of schools and churches have approached WNIN about how they can use the Healthy Lifestyles curriculum in their organizations, and WNIN continues to provide online and broadcast health information.
