When the Department of Commerce suggested that senior citizens would be left behind in the DTV transition, WOSU and local senior organizations took notice. Chuck Gehring, President of LifeCare Alliance commented that "70 percent of our clients live on less than $600 per month, which means most of them simply cannot afford cable television and are in desperate need of the digital converter boxes." Working with partners, WOSU formed a Help Your Neighbor campaign to solicit donations of converter box coupons, receiving more than 2800. The station sponsored Digital Days in their downtown studios to discuss the transition with thousands of seniors and others, assist with coupon applications, and answer installation questions, and provided digital Train the Trainer sessions for social workers at libraries throughout the city.
