In the election season of 2008, Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio saw an opportunity to bring news and public affairs content to younger audiences, aged 18-24. Together the stations created wisconsinvote.org, a comprehensive Website featuring streaming media of candidate debates and appearances, citizen journalism blogs, links to polling places and other voter resources, and on-demand content downloadable to mobile devices. The site was promoted via Facebook to the state’s college students and through other social media sites. More than 90,000 people used the website during election season, and it was acknowledged by the Wisconsin League of Women Voters for its unbiased content.
Wiconsin Public Television (WPT) used My Source to promote their wisonsinvote.org Web site. They produced a series of spots that were aired prior to the February presidential primaries. WPT's spots will be broadcast again in advance of the April state Supreme Court elections and the November presidential election.
