With the My Source Community Impact Awards for engagement, KWBU is being recognized for their project, Preparing Waco for the DTV Transition.

A large part of KWBU’s viewing area in and around Waco, Texas is rural and without cable or satellite access. With the DTV transition approaching, KWBU took the lead on providing citizens with information about the improved digital television signal and the new reception equipment required. The station created a series of promo spots explaining the various options for receiving and displaying DTV signals in the home.  A 30-minute program about the DTV transition runs regularly on-air. The station provides information on its website, and has printed educational materials to distribute during outreach events, screenings and for anyone who phones or emails with questions or concerns. Showing its strong ties to community, KWBU has responded to hundreds of calls from local viewers and has even sent out its engineer to help with installations.

KWBU created a print ad to encourage viewers and listeners to send in their stories about why they value public broadcasting. The print ad appears in KWBU's May program guide.
